Programme

10th Dec.: the results reached by recent large scale integration experiments will be reviewed, allowing the participants to build their own opinion on effective and documented results, since comparing field outputs from Europe, North America and Japan, but also Australia and India.

11th Dec.: academia, utilities and technology manufacturers will provide the attendees with their most recent research and development results in support of massive DER integration scenarios by 2010 and beyond. The technical sessions cover technical, market and regulatory issues.

12th Dec.: the floor is given to researchers who will pinpoint future research areas which have to be covered beyond 2010 in order to favour further DER integration, including active network management, virtual power plants and further ICT uses like smart metering. It will include outputs from the SOLIDDER project, a coordination action about DER-based research activities in Europe, funded by the European Commission.

Papers on technical matters focus on electrical network management and the future role of ICT technologies. Papers on market address the development of aggregation economic models, including the use of customer flexibility to show that technology and business innovation can be coupled to support agile and smooth integration of DER units into existing electricity grids. Papers on regulations address two issues: to fairly charge the networks costs when considering a signifi cant DER presence? What are the new regulatory schemes which must be looked to encourage effi cient into integration of DER?

Two poster sessions are organised in parallel to allow for more in-depth, face-to-face discussions on recent research and development results. It will further highlight the wealth of knowledge gained in the past two years on DER integration.
